Whats the Difference, Aren't the purpose of them both is to index your backlinks?Its owned by the same guy and states:

Many have asked about this question, and in general terms, when your backlink is in Google's index, you'll enjoy better ranking than just getting it crawl; However, when you are using profile links, blog comments or bookmarks, Google will not index them without some quality factors, like - unique content or domain with high pagerank. For low quality backlinks, it would be waste of time trying to get them index, Google won't give much credit even if you are trying to boost their link juice and getting them index.
I'm not saying that these backlinks are useless, but rather saying that just get them crawl will be enough to get credit and raise your ranking, the differences between crawling vs indexing them are not significant.
