Amazing Niche Marketing系列教程Module 3 — Product and Competition Evaluation
Download the video here!Nowthat you’ve scouted aboutdifferent 10 products, and have chosen yourtop 3, it’s time to do a bit more digging before you settle on aproduct.
Again, this is partially about speed, so I don’t spend a ton of time in theevaluation stage. I just want to make sure people are actually buying itand that I can easily rank for it in the search engines.
Thereare two considerations here. If you’re choosing a product that hasyet-to-be-released, you’re just going to have to go on your gut and theavailable information.
Choosing Upcoming Products
Therewon’t be the normal indicators on Amazon we’d look for in a releasedproduct. Still, check Amazon.com to see if the product is available forpre-order. If it is and you feel good about promoting the productbecause the company and Amazon is going to be pushing it hard, I’d gowith it!
Choosing Products That are Already Hot-Selling
If you’re choosing a product that has an established sales record, you’ll want to look for a few things.
[*]Are there any reviews for the product?[*]What does Amazon’s review look like? Are they pushing the item?[*]What is its sales rank?[*]Do you trust/know the brand?[*]Is Amazon offering the best price?[*]Do they recommend similar or complimentary items?[*]Do you feel confident this is a hot-selling product based on all the factors?Idon’t personally have hard and fast cutoffs for these criteria, rather Ilook at the product and available information as a whole. Do I thinkthis product can do well for me, or not?
Anothernote: You’ll notice in the video that I sometimes recommend pluggingthe product into the Google Keyword Tool. It’s something I might do if Iwant to be sure about a product I’m NOT sure about. I try to weigh allfactors together to make my final choice, and this is another piece ofdata you can analyze if you’re not sure. Again, it’s not something Ialways do for sites like these.
Evaluating the Competition
Thenext step is to check the competition. I type the product name intoGoogle, as well as variations of that product name. If a ton ofauthority sites are showing up that I would have a hard time beating, Imove on. I simply don’t want to take the time to get a ton of backlinksand wait a long time to rank.
IfI see a bunch of product listings and other sites that are easy to beat(Amazon.com, shopping.com, coupon sites, article directory listings, etc.) I’ll consider it a fairly sure bet.
Also, you can check competing site backlinks using: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/
A very helpful Firefox plugin is: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html it will give you information that really helps you evaluate your competition
Evaluating the Product as a Whole
In combination, I make sure:
[*]It’s a hot selling product (or has the potential to be, if it hasn’t been released yet)[*]I can easily beat other listings in the search enginesCommonly Asked Questions and My Answers
Abig question people have is if I have a specific price cutoff point. Idon’t! If it’s one of the hottest selling products out there and fitsall of my criteria and sells like gangbusters, but only sells for $20, Iam not going to shy away from it. I think about how it will perform forme as a whole. I think about what else the customer at the other end ofthe screen is likely to load their cart with.
With that said, if you find a high-ticket item that fits all of your criteria, absolutely go for it!
Anotherquestion people have is if I have any specific competition numbers inmind. Honestly, the most important evaluation is what shows up in thosetop 10 listings. If it’s stuff you can easily beat, you’re golden.
Finally, there are two different ways you can go with these product-specificsites. You can promote different types of items to test niches you’llwant to build out later. Or, you can promote similar items to go alongwith a more general “mother” site.
I will be adding the bonus mother site module because it’s been a very popular request http://amazingnichemarketing.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif 支持AMAZON教程!
