Flipping Sites
Thisisn’t going to be a comprehensive course on site flipping. There aresome extremely great products on the market that go into that, heavily.However, you can take the basics of this information and turn it into anamazingly profitable business.
First, go to http://flippa.com.Browse through the various sites for sale, and note what the sites aregoing for. In general, a site that is earning at least a little bit ofmoney can go for a few hundred dollars. A site that is earning a nicesum ($100/month or more) over a period of at least a few months can gofor $500+.
Ifyou’re the type (I tend to be this way) that likes the thrill ofbuilding, and not necessarily waiting for profits over a long span oftime, then you might want to consider building to flip.
Sayyou build 10 sites right now, get them earning, and flip them a fewmonths from now. That can equate to quite a nice pay day for you! Peoplelove to buy sites that are earning and have a proven track record, nomatter how small it may be.
Somewill ask about building to flip right away (i.e. flipping sites with noearnings). This can work too — but you’ll get a lot less money for it.It all depends on how much you want to earn and what the market is likeat the time. In any case, you’ll need to examine the top-selling startup sites on Flippa to see what their sales copy is like and what youshould include in your own listing to get top dollar.
Ihave not done as much site-flipping as I would like (around 15 sites).This is definitely something I would like to do more of, because I dolove to build! I also like the cash infusion.
Alot of what you’ll do to earn as much as you can is to “reverseengineer” sites that are selling well on Flipppa. Figure out what othermarketers are doing to sell so well, and do that with your own siteflipping attempts. If you get nothing else out of this section, takethat snippet and run with it!

Flippais where I’d start. Earn 1K a Day is best used after you’ve been amember and have gotten to know people — sites go FAST there. TheWarrior Forum can be a great spot to sell as well.
Youcan take this business model as far as you want to. Play around withthe math (for instance “If I determine that most of my sites can sellfor $300, on average, and I build X sites, I can earn $xxxxx peryear!”).
Youcan choose to flip all of your sites, or just the ones that don’tperform as well as you hoped it would. You can flip sites you’re boredwith. You can flip sites to get instant cashflow for your life orbusiness.
Ilike to think of niche websites as an insurance, of sorts. I know theywill earn money for me, passively. I also know they are there if I everwant to sell them for instant cash. I like having that option, and it’spart of the reason I’m going to be scaling up more and more in 2011 —not only will it mean more passive income, but it will mean moresite-flipping income as well.
The reasons you decide to sell are personal to you. Determine what works best for you, and when and what you want to sell.
The actual steps to doing so are very easy.
[*]Examine the marketplace (Flippa.com) to find sites similar to yours in niche, earnings, traffic, etc.[*]See what kinds of things owners of successfully sold sites have included in their listings[*]Determine what you need to do to sell in your chosen marketplace (for instance, join Flippa, pay $20, and list your site)[*]Link to your sale on any marketing forums or marketing sites you own[*]Answer questions or comments on your listing[*]Sell the site![*]Transfer the site to the owners’ host (I always do this for the buyer)DoNOT be scared of this process. Scaling Up
It’s a great thing to scale up your operation.You can earn some great, passive income this way!
Partof the reason I build these sites the way I do is because they prettymuch take care of themselves. After the initial SEO work, they tend torank on the first page of Google…and stay there. You might have tomonitor and add some content or backlinks here or there, but for themost part, they will rank and earn with little to no extra work for you.
Thatmeans that you can scale up, and up, and up! These sites are so quickand easy to build once you have them going that you could easily do 1per day. I know what it’s like to be insanely busy, so my plan for 2011is to add an extra 5 sites to my portfolio per week.
How many sites do you plan on building?
Please,please, please don’t just stop at one site. You can build your nicheempire without sweat or tears. You can absolutely make this work foryou.
Thisis easy stuff. Amazon provides you with everything you need. Plus, ifyou find yourself strapped for time, you can outsource the tasksrequired to build the site.
Hire a great ghostwriter to write your articles for you! Do whatever you need to do to reach your goals and scale up.
Now,even though these sites are relatively hands-off once you have themgoing, you will need to monitor them in order to make importantdecisions. I like to use http://piwik.org for analytics. I’ve become paranoid about using Google analytics, sothis is great. There is a WordPress plugin available to make this veryeasy to use on your sites.
Youcan easily figure out how many visitors each of your sites is getting,which links are getting clicked, and so on. This will also help youdetermine which sites you want to keep and which sites you want to sell.
What if a Site Isn’t Performing Like You’d Hoped?
I get this question a lot. What if a site just didn’t rank? Or, what if it does rank, but doesn’t sell?
Chalkit up to experience. Was it your product selection? Was it your SEO (orlack thereof?). Figure out where you went wrong. In some cases, you’llwant to take steps to correct things. In other cases, you’ll just wantto move on.
Flipthat site! There was a reason you chose that product and you put a lotof hard work into it. Someone else might have a vision you don’t have,and would love to buy the site from you http://amazingnichemarketing.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
Inother cases, all you’ll need to do is add a little bit more content.Maybe a few more backlinks. Perhaps, all you need to do is wait. It’svery common for these sites to rank well, and quickly. However, Googlehas a mind of its own. Sometimes you’ll find that it just takes longerthan you expected — one of these days, your site might magically zoomup to the first page of Google where it belongs.
Theimportant thing is to not get too caught up on any one site. This is astrategy where your income is going to come from the average of yoursites. You’re not going to get rich on just one site! Scale up, flip theduds, and keep scaling up. Getting discouraged about one little sitethat takes 2 hours to make is just going to drag you down.
Move on, and move up!
If you keep at it, you will be successful.
Also,you’ll find your own methods of tweaking these sites. You’ll grow intoyour own as you’re building your niche empire. I’ve built dozens upondozens upon dozens of sites. My strategy has grown and changed overtime. I’ve studied copywriting, I’ve studied niche marketing…and I’vepaid a LOT to do it.
But, the most important thing is that I’ve applied the information. You learn by reading and watching, but you learn the most by DOING.
So, make sure you’re doing. Make sure you’re focused, and you will succeed!
