You’ve gotten your content finished and your site is optimized onsite and off. Great job!
Now it’s time to add your affiliate graphic to increase conversions. While I use and love certain WordPress plugins (Reviewazon, PHPzon, and others), I always go back to this style of graphic. Originally from the “Info Product Killer” product, I now create these large, highly targeted graphics with my own spin.
Here is my example:

There are a couple of things to keep in mind with these graphics:
- I make them 300×300 or so
- I like to include the keyword at the top to immediately call out to people who are searching for this product
- I grab the image from Amazon (which is allowed) and size it to be large and clear within my larger graphic
- I include text that shows off Amazon’s free shipping and sales
- I like to use a handwriting font because it helps set the graphic apart
- I like to include a line at the bottom with a call to action (click!) and mention of a deal — it piques people’s curiosity
All of those statements start with “I,” and it’s not because I’m suddenly stuck on myself! It’s because I’m telling you what “I” do. You can tweak this style of graphic and make it your own. See what works best for you. After testing things, this is what works best for me.
Tools to Use
Now, you might be like me and consider yourself to be BAD at graphic design. I know nothing about Photoshop and I consider Gimp to be the least intuitive program I’ve ever used. If you’re good at using either of those (or similar) then by all means, do so!
I’ve relied on something else since late 2008 — E-Cover Go (yes, that is an affiliate link). There is a reason I’ve been a subscriber for this long — it’s the only product I can seem to use to create e-covers, headers, and sales graphics. It’s worth its weight in gold and I can’t praise it enough. If you’re like me, this is what you might want to go with.
Otherwise, any other graphics editing program will work just fine If you’re on a tight budget, Gimp is completely free — http://www.gimp.org/.
Add Your Graphic to Your Site
After you’ve created your graphic, it’s time to add it to your site.
Here are some things to think about:
- Right-align the graphic (or left-align, depending on what looks best on your site)
- Add it to every content page
- Add your affiliate link to the graphic
This step gets easier and easier the more you do it! |
