The city of more than 1.5 million people was also found to be amongthe least stylish, least active, least friendly and least worldly,according to the "America’s Favourite Cities" survey by Travel &Leisure magazine and CNN.
About 60,000 people responded tothe online survey -- at www.travelandleisure.com -- which ranked 25cities in categories including shopping, food, culture, and cityscape,said Amy Farley, senior editor at the magazine.
Forunattractiveness, Philadelphia just beat out Washington DC andDallas/Fort Worth for the bottom spot. Miami and San Diego are home tothe most attractive people, the poll found.
But Farley pointed out the results don’t mean people in Philadelphia are ugly or the city is a bad place to visit.
"We were asking people to vote on attractiveness, notunattractiveness. Travel & Leisure editors believe there are a lotof attractive people in Philadelphia," she said.
"The relative attractiveness of its residents is only a minuscule factor in evaluating a city’s merit."
Philadelphians’ self-esteem has been undermined by national surveysshowing they are among the fattest people in the United States. TheAmerican Obesity Association ranked the city in the top 10 foroverweight people every year between 2000 and 2005.
Andsporting pride in a city known for the fierce loyalty of its fans hasbeen hurt by not having had a national champion since the 76ers won theNational Basketball Association title in 1983.

在25个城市中，费城“击败”华盛顿和达拉斯-沃思堡，被评为“最缺乏魅力的城市”。另外，该民调显示，迈阿密和圣地亚哥人被认为最有魅力。
但法尔利指出，评选结果并不意味着“费城人令人讨厌”或“费城不值得一去”。
她说：“我们要求参评者着眼于城市的闪光点，而不是缺点。我们杂志的编辑认为很多费城人都魅力十足。”
“另外，居民是否具有魅力只是评价一座城市的一个很小的因素。”
让费城人“伤自尊”的还不仅仅是这次调查。从2000年至2005年，费城年年入选美国肥胖协会评选的“十大肥胖城市”之列。
费城人向来以热爱体育著称，但这也没能让他们“扬眉吐气”。自1983年 “费城76人”队夺得NBA全国总冠军后，费城就再也没拿过一个全国冠军。 |
